Artistic Vision
I’m a watercolor artist based in Naples, Florida, and I paint the things that make me feel something.
Sometimes that’s a quiet landscape that reminds me of a place I love. Sometimes it’s a memory I want to hold onto. And apparently, sometimes it’s an alligator holding an umbrella.
I’m drawn to soft light, muted colors, atmosphere, and the little details that can turn a painting into a feeling. I’m much less interested in documenting a place perfectly than I am in capturing what it felt like to be there—or what I imagine it might feel like someday.
Some of my favorite paintings began with places close to my heart, including my family’s cottage in Wisconsin. Over time, that same idea has grown into paintings inspired by the beaches of Southwest Florida, mountain landscapes, quiet mornings, family memories, and places I still dream of visiting.
More recently, I’ve found another side of my work in my Coastal Whimsy and Everglades series—serene watercolor scenes with just enough ridiculousness to make you look twice. It turns out peaceful and slightly questionable coexist quite nicely.
Whether I’m painting a meaningful place, a custom piece from someone else’s memories, or giving a creature a completely unnecessary accessory, my hope is pretty simple: I want my work to make you pause, smile, remember something, or feel something.
